Blackpool is Britain’s favourite seaside resort and a popular destination during the summer season for day trips and family breaks. If you’re visiting Blackpool this summer, plan your trip and find out the best things to do before you go – we’ve put together some must-sees that are perfect for families.
Hit the beach
There’s nothing quite like a day at the beach – even in Britain! If the weather is on your side, grab your sunglasses and sun cream and spend the day on Blackpool’s famous beach. Boasting 7 miles of sand, the beach was awarded Blue Flag status in 2016, meaning it’s one of the safest and cleanest beaches in the country.
The beach itself has plenty of open space to pitch up for the day, build sandcastles, and even go on a donkey ride. There’s a real family atmosphere when the sun’s out, and best of all, it’s completely free!

Visit the animals at Blackpool Zoo
Blackpool Zoo is perfect for a family day out, and just a ten minute walk from our Blackpool hotel. The zoo opened the UK’s largest indoor elephant house in March 2018 which is sure to draw in visitors this summer, along with tigers, lions, gorillas, and flamingos. You can book tickets to the zoo online, and children under the age of three go free.
Location: East Park Drive, Blackpool, FY3 8PP
Head to Blackpool Pleasure Beach
Everyone’s heard of Blackpool Pleasure Beach and it’s a must for thrill-seekers. There’s something for all ages, with a range of high-adrenaline rollercoasters (including Britain’s highest rollercoaster!), traditional rides, and family activities. Blackpool Pleasure Beach does get busy during the summer months, so it’s best to book your tickets in advance before you go.

Find your way through Singleton Maze
If you’ve never visited a maze before, you’ll find the Singleton Maize Maze (you guessed it - it’s made from maize) something a little bit different. It’s located around 15 minutes from our Blackpool hotel and open throughout the summer. The maze itself is around 10ft in height and sprawls over a 12 acre site. Once you’re finished getting lost (and found!) in the maze, there are plenty of amenities on-site, including indoor and outdoor play areas, trampolines, and a café offering light refreshments.
Location: Mount Farm, Carr Lane, Singleton, Blackpool, FY6 8LG
Watch the day go by at Stanley Park
Blackpool’s biggest park, Stanley Park, boasts some of England’s finest examples of Art Deco design. It’s a great place to relax and watch the world go by, but there’s also plenty of things to do to keep you entertained, such as the unique model village and gardens, a sprawling boating lake, tennis courts, and a golf course! Entry is free, and our hotel is just around the corner from Stanley Park too, so you don’t have far to go.
Location: West Park Drive, Blackpool, FY3 9HQ
We think these are some of the best things to do in Blackpool, and if you’re sticking to a budget, the activities we’ve listed are either free or very reasonably priced. If you're staying with us, our hotel is full of activities for all the family, including tennis courts and an outdoor swimming pool. Enjoy your stay in Blackpool!
