“I was looking around for somewhere just to have a little break, and I spotted that Village had just built a hotel in Portsmouth. It looked really smart, and since I have friends in Portsmouth, that was that!
I always look out for offers, and this time I got a dinner, bed and breakfast deal, staying in one of the Club Rooms, which I love because they have the big screen TV and Google Roomcast, so you can broadcast from your own device. They also have a coffee machine and a big walk-in shower.
FRESH AND TASTY
When I got there, I think the hotel had only been open for 2 or 3 weeks, so everything was so fantastic and new. I went down to explore the gym, which was really flash - in fact, it was better than my expensive gym back home! I was meeting friends the night after, so I opted for a quiet bite in the bar (I love the hummus and red pesto dip!) and a couple of pints.
GREAT LOCATION, EVEN BETTER SERVICE
Although Village Portsmouth hotel is out of town, it’s really easy to get to things. On the Saturday I headed to the outlet shops, which are always good for a bargain, and went to explore the HMS Victory battleship before meeting up with my friends for a meal and a trip to the cinema.
I headed home the next morning, but only after I’d had an amazing breakfast. I really fancied some poached eggs which weren’t on the menu, but the staff arranged for some to be made for me, which was lovely of them.
I’m looking at the Village Bristol hotel next – just keeping my eyes open for a special offer!”
The port city of Portsmouth, often nicknamed Pompey, is the only island city in the UK and is filled with loads to see and do, especially if you’re interested in history. But even if you’re not, you’ll find plenty of options – from shopping to museums to art galleries – and they’re all just a short journey away.
The Village Portsmouth hotel has over 150 stylish rooms on offer as well as a state-of-the-art gym, offering more than 100 classes a week, and is home to a 20-metre swimming pool.
