The Edinburgh tourist tax levy is a city-wide fixed charge of 5% that applies to all overnight accommodation stays in Edinburgh. This charge was introduced on October 1, 2025 and will apply to stays in Edinburgh from July 26, 2026.
The levy is applied before VAT and does not include extras like parking, meals, drinks or transport purchased during a stay. The charge is payable upon arrival and applies to the first 5 nights of a stay. To find out more please visit edinburgh.gov.uk
