A wild day out! Beale Wildlife Park is home to over 160 species of birds and animals, including Eurasian Lynx, Guianan Squirrel Monkey, Highland Cattle and more. Learn more about how animals adapt and evolve! Cole Museum of Zoology is located in the University of Reading Health and Life Sciences building. The museum contains around 4,000 specimens including a male Indian circus elephant skeleton, giant spider crabs, and a false killer whale. It’s free to visit, too! Located around 10 minutes drive from our Reading hotel.

Things to do in Reading for couples

Reading has a great mix of activities for couples. We've already mentioned the famous Reading Festival - but here's some more ideas! Visit Stanlake Park Wine Estate, where you can stroll through the vineyards, learn the art of wine-making, and enjoy wine tasting. Prefer hops over grapes? Head to Loddon Brewery or Double-Barrelled Brewery, and enjoy a beer straight from the source. If you're after entertainment, check out the lineup at South Street Arts Centre or The Hexagon. For something more adventurous, there's Spinners Reading - home to bowling, interactive darts, clay shooting, and mini golf, or you can take on paintballing at Delta Force Paintball.

Things to do in Reading for families

Reading has plenty of activities to keep the family entertained. Enjoy a scenic walk at Wellington Country Park, or for kids (and adults) with a need for speed, TeamSport Indoor Go Karting is a must-visit, featuring two 450m circuits. There’s also Reload Laser Clay Shooting Range, the UK’s first dedicated laser clay venue. Put your teamwork to the test at Escape Reading, or let the little ones to burn off some energy at Oxygen Reading, where you’ll find interconnecting trampolines, giant air bags, interactive sports courts, and soft play.

One for the music fans! Reading Festival is one of the top things to do in Reading - and our hotel couldn't be closer! It’s the longest running UK music festival, showcasing many of the biggest bands across rock, indie, hip hop, alternative genres and more.  Reading Festival takes place every year during August bank holiday weekend, on Richfield Avenue.
