We pride ourselves on being a vibrant community hub where people can come together. We support the things that matter to our people through regular charity activities and community events.

Charity partners

As part of its Village Green sustainability programme, Village Hotels is excited to announce its charity partners for 2024: 

  • Sense - Helping us to provide training to our teams, to better understand and deliver on the needs of guests with additional needs. In addition, we will be donating bedrooms and hosting breaks for disabled adults through Sense.
     
  • Carefree - We continue to host unpaid carers through the Carefree Break-Maker programme, providing carers with respite. In 2023 we are proud to announce we donated 984 room nights to carers worth over £105,000.
     
  • Sue Ryder - We have become the UK's first "Grief Kind Hotel Group". Hotels around the country will be providing grief kind spaces, giving those who are approaching the end of their lives, and those grieving loved ones, access to the support they need from tailored professionals who can support.

Following on from last year's success of a nationwide Spinathon in aid of Sense, we are super excited to say that they are back for 2024!

In April 2024 we will be hosting more Spinathon events in aid of SENSE - so grab your friends, take your seats for a spin like no other.

WINTER APPEAL

We were delighted to support SENSE as part of our Winter Appeal 2023.  

As well as raising over £2000 in a charity spinathon - whereby blindfolded staff took part in spin events to raise awareness of the struggles people with sensory issues face every day, Village teams collected second-hand clothing to sell in Sense charity shops, raising another £2,000 and diverting 1.6 tons of clothes from landfill.

Village donates over 950 breaks for carers

We are delighted to confirm that our relationship with Carefree continues into 2024, providing essential respite breaks for carers across the UK. Last year Village donated over 950 stays for carers at a value of over £100,000.

In celebration of International Biodiversity day, we launched our very own ‘Be Green Day’. Our teams had the chance to take a step out of the everyday, to partner up with some incredible local organisations - right across the UK, with all of our 33 locations and central office teams getting involved.

BRISTOL GO GOLD

We are delighted to announce that Village Hotel Bristol has recently achieved GOLD status in Green Tourism accreditation. As part of the submission the team were able to demonstrate environmentally friendly practices at the hotel, including the introduction of a new bug hotel promoting biodiversity on the site. Well done team Bristol!

Our community pillar recognises the vibrant, Village community we have created - we’re a local hub where people can come together - it’s just a great place to be! We support the things that matter most to our people, through charity partnerships and regular community activities.

At a national level, Village has announced three national charity partners for 2024: Sense, Sue Ryder and Carefree. We also work with various local charities that contribute huge value to the local communities we serve.

Brand partners are discussed and agreed at the Sustainability Steering Group. Local charity partners are selected by the team members at each hotel, and often include charities that are personal to our teams, members and guests.

Do you give a certain number of days per year? Our engagement depends on the charity’s specific goals and priorities. For example, with the Trussell Trust, we use our 33 Village Hotels as drop-off points for food donations that can be distributed to local communities. Meanwhile, our work with local charity partners includes hands-on support, from litter picking to DIY, and fundraising.
