Looking for an autumnal day out for all the family? You’ve come to the right place! With Halloween just around the corner, pumpkin picking is the perfect way to get into the spooky spirit. It’s a great (and less scary!) way to involve the little ones in the festivities. Plus, the fun continues at home, where you carve your pumpkins together! We’ve taken our pick of the best pumpkin patches for you to visit in the UK.
Kenyon Hall - Warrington
With their first pumpkin planted over 30 years ago, Kenyon Hall is now one of the biggest pumpkin farms in the North West. Boasting over 15,000 different varieties of pumpkins grown this year, the farm will be open for pickers from 3rd to 31st October, by ticket only. It’s the perfect place to get into the spooky spirit, with indoor displays, pumpkin-tastic photo backdrops, halloween characters, carving inspiration and seasonal food & drink. You’ll get your own wheelbarrow to pick your pumpkin, and the best part is you can carve your pumpkin at the farm and leave your mess behind!
Avon Valley Adventure & Wildlife Park - Bristol
The pumpkin picking festival is set to return to Avon Valley Adventure & Wildlife Park from 2nd - 31st October. There’s so much to see and do, so be sure to book your ticket in advance and don’t forget your wellies! Not only can you roam the pumpkin patch, but there’s fairground rides, pumpkin paintball, slingshot, local food & drink, and spooky entertainment to enjoy too! Last year was a huge success with the event selling out completel, so be sure to book your tickets in advance.
Craigie’s Farm Shop & Cafe - Edinburgh
Renowned for it’s delicious seasonal fruit, Craigie’s is a great place to pick your own pumpkin. There's lots of different varieties available, including Mars, Snowman, Knucklehead, Crown Prince, Harvest Moon, Polar Bear and Turkish Turban. There’s not just pumpkins on offer in October, with tasty apples just coming into season too! Did someone say apple pie?! Craigie’s is an authentic farm, so be sure to pack a pair of wellies!
Swithens farm - Leeds
Take a terrifying tractor ride around Swithens farm before picking out the perfect pumpkin. Tickets are available for 16th, 17th, 23rd and 31st October. Animal lovers can also hand feed the llamas, cows, pigs, sheep, donkeys, goats and alpaca. If you’re brave enough, try exploring the spooky graveyard and halloween decorations at the back of the pumpkin patch. Oh, and be sure to keep an eye out for the resident witch, Jules who casts spooky spells over the patch!
